Eye Care For Children

At 3 years old: A comprehensive eye checkup is recommended.
When the child enters pre-primary school: Ensure an eye examination is conducted to identify any early vision issues.
When the child enters secondary school: Regular checkups are essential to monitor vision development.
Whenever the child complains of pain or severe irritation in the eyes: Immediate consultation is advised.
In case of an external body/object entering the child’s eye: Seek urgent medical attention.
Family History of Eye Problems: Regular eye checkups are recommended if there’s a family history of vision issues.
Signs of Eye Abnormalities: If you notice:
- Unsteady eyes (Nystagmus)
- Squinting
- An abnormal ‘glint’ in your baby’s eyes
Visit a pediatric ophthalmologist immediately.
For Premature Babies: Ensure an eye checkup is done:
- During the baby’s stay in the hospital
- At 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years
